Solar yoga healing teaching with asanas and mantras

I was looking for information about Solar healing and found this video by Yogiraj Gurunath Siddhanath on a Solar Yoga technique that he has developed. According to Gurunath, this dynamic series of yoga meditations using pranic spiritual energy is designed to flush out toxins that can cause disease, and to enliven the body, mind and soul. They are meant to be used with Mahavatar Babaji’s Kriya Yoga, a kundalini kriya yoga, which is said to be “the ancient spiritual technique and lightning path to enlightenment and God realization given by the Himalayan yogi and master Mahavatar Babaji Gorakshanath, otherwise know as Shiv-Goraksha-Babaji.”

Gurunath says that the practice of these techniques can help one to “rejuvenate the body, eliminate emotional suffering, and generate mental clarity, focus and perfect concentration.” These techniques, as with other yoga practices, are meant to facilitate the evolution of one’s soul consciousness with the goal of enlightened (cosmic) realization.

    1. Yogiraj is the third master of surya yoga that I know of to be blessed by Babaji in this century. The first was Omraam Mikhail Aivanhov in 1960, then Yogiraj in 1967, then HRM in 1992. I’m not sure about Sun Yogi Umshakar, but I wouldn’t be surprised. The exercises in this video are almost identical to those practiced by Omraam and his disciples in the sun after sungazing. He gives photos and explanations for them in his book “A New Earth.”

Lindy, a sungazer I recently met, who is a yoga teacher, does bending exercises before sungazing to get the glandular juices flowing because sungazing activates our endocrine system. She bends her head forward and backward and her body forward and backward, as in the sun salutation asana. HRM told me that exercises are ok but not necessary. Sungazing is all you need to do. He wants to keep it simple to encourage people to start. But I think advanced sungazers can add exercises. Pranayama is also something you can do before sungazing. Lindy says her exercises accomplish the same effects as pranayama. But I think alternate nostril pranayama helps you to absorb prana and balances the two hemispheres of the brain.

The poem is nice but I think the Gayatri mantra is the most powerful mantra to recite during sungazing. My translation is: “Hail to the One beyond the Earth, the sky, the sun! Hail to that spiritual Sun whom I adore! I meditate upon your divine splendor that I may see your blessed Self, even that Higher Self that I AM.”

      Namaste,

    2. David Black says:

I saw your website, and it is most excellent!

As for, Yogiraj Gurunath Siddhanath on the Solar Yoga technique he developed:

“They are meant to be used with Mahavatar Babaji’s Kriya Yoga, a kundalini kriya yoga, which is said to be “the ancient spiritual technique and lightning path to enlightenment and God realization given by the Himalayan yogi and master Mahavatar Babaji Gorakshanath, otherwise know as Shiv-Goraksha-Babaji.”

I have viewed those vids and I would concur.

Also, what many in the watered down yoga systems do not realize, is that, the Sacred Fire needs to be utilized first to awaken the Kundalini and guide its expression.

      Anbe Sivam, Sat Nam!

      David,

Nice to hear from you! Thanks for the comments.
